An Australian entrepreneur has teamed up with an 18-year-old amateur space buff from Romania to launch a Lego space shuttle into the stratosphere.
News Limited reports Steve Sammartino and Oaida Raul launched the small model using a weather balloon to an altitude of almost 40km.
The shuttle was launched in Germany on December 31 last year and landed in a field 241km away.
A camera was attached to the Lego shuttle to capture the journey, which was intended as a tribute to the now defunct US shuttle program.
Sammartino and Raul have reportedly teamed up again for another secret 'mini project', which is being crowd-funded via Twitter.
