Ex-national player kills self, says she 'can't bear every defeat'

Raipur A 25-year-old former member of Women's Netball National Team allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself here, police said today.

Purti Tiwari committed suicide by hanging herself at her Davda Colony residence yesterday, senior police superintendent of Raipur district Deepanshu Kabra said.

According to Kabra, on Sunday morning, after striking a conversation with her relatives, Purti retired to her room, and locked it from inside. After a while, her parents found that there was no response despite repeatedly knocking at the door. Later, they managed to open the door, but were shocked to find her body hanging from the ceiling fan, he said.

According to police, a suicide note was recovered from the site, in which, Purti has written that nobody should be held responsible for the act. However, the note also says: "I can't bear every defeat."
