A man hit in the head by an airplane propeller Monday morning at Gillespie Field in El Cajon has died of his injuries, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said.
The man was apparently attempting to hand-crank a Piper Cherokee when he was struck in the head about 8:30 a.m. He was rushed to the hospital but died shortly after arrival, Gregor said.
Investigation of the accident will be made by the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board.
